Elizabeth Mares

Mares joined the State Treasurer’s Office as Program Officer in January 2020. In this role, Elizabeth oversees the administration of two statewide scholarship opportunities, the Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship and Memorial Scholarship. This includes monitoring eligibility, maintaining student records, auditing scholarship payments, and coordinating with state institutions such as school districts, high schools, and the Nevada System of Higher Education. In addition, Elizabeth connects with students, parents, educators, and other community partners to provide helpful information and assistance regarding how to make postsecondary education affordable through the utilization of programs administered by the Treasurer’s Office and State of Nevada.

As a first-generation college graduate, Elizabeth understands the importance of making college accessible to all students. She is passionate about helping others navigate the college-going process while breaking down the barriers that abstain students from pursuing a higher education.

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles, CA and has a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
