Evelyn Castro

Evelyn Castro serves as the state’s first Student Loan Ombudsman with the State Treasurer’s Office where she assists students and parents with financial aid guidance and advocates for student loan borrowers by investigating, resolving, and addressing complaints related to federal or private student loans. Evelyn first joined the State Treasurer’s Office as the Program Officer for the Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship where she was responsible for the financial administration of the trust fund and maintenance of student eligibility.

Prior to joining the State Treasurer’s Office, Evelyn worked as a Community Resource Manager for a large and national non-profit organization. she also has experience working as a paralegal for a local law firm where she assisted homeowners with mortgage loan modifications and prior to being a paralegal she had been a licensed mortgage loan officer. Evelyn received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.
